In its 2011 multicultural policy, the Australian Government committed to develop and implement a National Anti-Racism Strategy.
The Strategy has been developed through a partnership led by the Australian Human Rights Commission.
The partnership includes the Department of Immigration and Citizenship; the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; the Attorney-General’s Department; the Australian Multicultural Council; the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples and the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia.
The development of the Strategy was informed by a broad consultation process.
The National Anti-Racism Strategy was launched in Melbourne on 24 August 2012. The Strategy will be implemented between 2012 and 2015.
