Analysis of Australian Liberal party and the Media’s Role

During the events which took place towards the end of 2009 in the in the Australian Liberal party when support for former leader of the Liberal Party, Malcolm Turnbull was declining over his Emissions Trading strategy and his leadership of the Liberal Party, the Australian Centre for Leadership for Women (ACLW) engaged women who were interested in this issue from a broad perspective of leadership models in a political context and the role of the media during such a critical time.

The findings of this national study are noteworthy because they reflect limitations in perceptions of our leaders as governed by gaps in how the media portrays leaders, leadership, and issues that are of significance to a nation, and gaps in how politicians convey information and analysis to the public through the media.
